Satsuki Nakagawa

Satsuki Nakagawa is a Japanese milliner based in Tokyo. Satsuki was first introduced to the field of fashion while working at a small fashion company making clothing by hand. There she had her first opportunity to make hats. This sparked her imagination and soon she enrolled on a two-year professional millinery training course in Tokyo.

In 2010 Satsuki moved to London and started working at Misa Harada Millinery and gained experience by working with other established brands such as Noel Stewart Millinery. During this time in London she felt motivated to further expand her technical skills in hat making as well as discover more of her own imaginative abilities in hat designing.

In 2013 Satsuki was accepted on Kensington and Chelsea College's highly regarded Millinery course, which has a history of producing many talented milliners. Whilst working on her Higher National Certificate in Millinery at KCC, she worked for The English National Opera. After graduating in summer 2014 Satsuki worked at the couture department of the world-renowned brand Stephen Jones Millinery.

Inspired by her time in London, Satsuki has now returned to her native Tokyo. Here her designs combine traditional and unconventional materials with carefully engineered structures. She creates headpieces for fashion designers and accepts commissions. Her new commerical line will be released very shortly for viewing through her website.
